Behaviour

At All Saints Catholic College our aim is to ensure excellent standards in the teaching of all subjects. The purpose of the school’s policy is to produce a working document which reflects the current needs of the school.

Our Catholic identity is central to everything we do and we want our pupils to develop their Catholic faith in a spirit of tolerance and understanding necessary for life in a multifaith and ethnically diverse society. All Saint is dedicated to the ongoing education of children within the mission and vision of Shrewsbury Diocese. We acknowledge that parents are the first educators of their children and we support them in this role.

We have a whole school Behaviour and Relationships Policy that aims to:

  • Reward those pupils who always try hard and behave well
  • Support those pupils whose learning is negatively affected by the behaviour of others
  • Support those pupils whose behaviour prevents them from learning effectively
  • Support teachers to ensure that effective teaching and learning is taking place

A full copy of this policy is available from the school or on in the 'Policies and Procedures' section of our website.

Classroom Behaviour

It is essential that staff manage persistent low-level behaviour that disrupts the learning of others by giving clear signals to pupils of the inevitable consequences of continued misbehaviour. Staff will use and adapt behaviour management strategies to help support pupils and prevent them from entering the next behaviour process. A pupil may be removed by a class teacher for persistent disruptive behaviour that breaches our schools’ high expectations and policy.

The ‘Behaviour for Learning’ steps and expectations are displayed in classrooms and arounds school and are used to remind pupils of the high standards we expect at All Saints. All staff will use key appropriate classroom management strategies before initiated the below steps.

Outside of Classroom behaviour

We want our school to be a welcoming place which staff and pupils are proud of. To achieve this pupils should

  • Keep the school clean and tidy
  • Ensure corridors are calm all times, especially during lesson change over
  • Act safely and politely in all recreation areas
  • Be polite and courteous to each other and all staff
  • Queue properly on the yard and wait until instructed to enter the dining room
  • Leave the table tidy
  • Put all rubbish in the bins
  • Understand what areas of school and zones they should and should not be in during lunch and break time.

Offsite Behaviour

Pupils wearing our school uniform are representatives of All Saints and, as such, have a responsibility to behave with respect and good manners. Behaviour when travelling to and from school should be characterised by the principles embodied by All Saints high standards and expectations. Sanctions may be applied where a pupil has misbehaved off-site when representing the school. This means misbehaviour when the pupil is:

Taking part in any school-organised or school-related activity (e.g. school trips).

  • Travelling to or from school.
  • Wearing school uniform
  • In anyway identifiable as a member of the All Saints school community
